Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive wellness practice based on the principle that specific reflex points on the feet and hands correspond with different areas of the body.
During a reflexology session, gentle, focused pressure is applied to these points using the practitioner’s thumbs and fingers. Many people find the experience deeply relaxing and use reflexology as part of their regular self-care and wellness routine.
At Bodicraft, reflexology is not about diagnosing or treating medical conditions. It is about giving your body and mind dedicated time to slow down, relax, and reset.
Foot Reflexology
Your feet do a lot more work than they get credit for. Foot reflexology uses specific pressure techniques across the feet, with different reflex areas traditionally mapped to different parts and systems of the body. You remain comfortably seated or reclined while the practitioner works on one foot at a time.
A foot reflexology session can be surprisingly calming. Some people enjoy the quiet and simply close their eyes, while others prefer to chat. There is no right way to experience your session.
And no, you do not need perfect feet. Feet come with calluses, scars, crooked toes and years of mileage. They are welcome exactly as they are.
Hand Reflexology
Hand reflexology follows the same basic principles as foot reflexology, using mapped reflex points throughout the hands.
Focused thumb and finger pressure is applied to these areas while you relax comfortably. Hand reflexology can be a particularly good option for people who prefer not to have their feet touched or when working with the feet is not appropriate.
It can also be incorporated into a longer reflexology experience or enjoyed as a session of its own.
What Does Reflexology Feel Like?
Pressure is purposeful but should remain comfortable. Some reflex points may feel more sensitive than others, and you are always encouraged to tell your practitioner if you would like the pressure adjusted.
People experience reflexology differently. You might feel deeply relaxed, notice yourself becoming sleepy, or simply enjoy having a period of time when nothing is expected of you.
There is no particular feeling you need to achieve for your session to be worthwhile.
Reflexology Is Complementary Care
Reflexology is a complementary wellness practice and does not replace medical care, diagnosis, medication, physiotherapy, counselling, or other care provided by qualified health professionals.
What it can offer is something that is often surprisingly difficult to make room for: dedicated time to stop doing, settle in, and receive.
Relax • Receive • Reset
